The intention was to go light - bivvie bags and mountain hutting our way along the route.Unfortunately, the GR5 proved too much for the bikes or for that matter the riders and both failed miserably. I'd be fascinated to hear of anyone that has taken up the gauntlet and managed to complete the GR5 from Lake Geneva (St. Gingolph) to Nice.
